The interface between sustainable materials and manufacturing in circular product design has attracted significant interest, with a focus on novel strategies to support the transition from a linear to a circular economy. Considering the growing trend towards more sustainable principles in industry and business, the chapter describes reducing waste generation and using techniques such as reuse, repair, remanufacturing, and recycling to minimise waste while maximising the efficient utilisation of resources. The application of circular design through industry examples across industry sectors such as automotive, packaging and construction. It also reiterates the adoption of technology such as 3D printing and bioplastics as instrumental in advancing circularity and environmental sustainability. This chapter highlights the importance of cross-domain process collaboration for advancing innovation to improve PLM and achieve higher-level objectives, such as sustainable development.

摘要
