Reimagining Carbon Accountability: Innovative Tools for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth
摘要
The increasing concentration of carbon dioxide (CO₂), driven by forms of production and consumption across individuals, corporations, and institutions, has emerged as a serious concern for governments and global stakeholders due to its profound implications for climate stability. In response, the concept of the carbon footprint has evolved from a static emissions accounting metric into a dynamic strategic instrument for sustainability transformation. This chapter examines the methodological advancements, technological innovations, and sector-specific applications that have expanded the role of carbon footprint in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Carbon footprint analysis is no longer limited to retrospective reporting; it has become an essential decision-support system that informs corporate strategy, public policy formulation, sustainable finance, and climate governance. By integrating data-driven insights with sustainability objectives, carbon footprint tools now serve as catalysts for considerable progress toward climate action and broader SDG integration.
