Urban Governance for SDGs Achievement Through Sustainable Innovation in Developing Economies
摘要
Urbanization in developing economies brings opportunities for economic and social development. However, it also creates a high risk of unsustainable growth, informality, and environmental instability. This chapter discusses the dynamic nature of urban sustainability governance using a comparative lens based on theoretical and documented case studies and best practices. By analysing key governance models such as metropolitan, community-based, and city-to-city collaboration, the chapter shows how multi-actor engagement and key policy tools enable urban transformation. The chapter also highlights some of the universal best practices. It also explains the significance of having participatory governance, cross-level collaboration, flexible regulatory frameworks, and goal alignment with global sustainability agendas. In conclusion, it provides suggestions for the design of responsive and innovative governance arrangements for sustainable urban futures to policy-makers, city managers and, development partners.
