Practical Toolkit for Social Workers
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive practical toolkit for social workers responding to the escalating impacts of climate change and related disasters. Drawing from global disaster management frameworks and adaptation resources, it offers step-by-step guidance for preparing, responding, and supporting recovery across ten key areas: wildfires, heat stress, water shortages, flash floods, storm disasters, food security, migration, child and youth resilience, community mutual aid, and mental health. Designed for use in both high- and low-resource settings, the toolkit emphasizes proactive preparedness, local knowledge, and community collaboration. It encourages practitioners to print and store essential resources offline to ensure accessibility during power or communication outages. Each section outlines specific social work actions, such as coordinating evacuation plans, establishing cooling centers, facilitating water-sharing networks, supporting displaced populations, and addressing climate-related mental health challenges, while linking to globally recognized guides and organizations.
