Chemical Contamination of Drinking Water

This chapter explores the present issue of chemical contamination of drinking water sources. The chapter focuses into the various sources of chemical contamination, including industrial effluents, agricultural runoff and domestic waste. The potential health risks associated with exposure to these contaminants are examined, with a focus on specific health effects, e.g., cancer, reproductive issues and developmental disorders. Furthermore, the challenges in monitoring and regulating chemical contaminants in drinking water are elaborated in detail. It concludes by proposing potential solutions or recommendations to mitigate the risks and protect public health.
