Chapter 3 explores the freedom of international choice of forum by identifying the foundation of that principle in supranational legal sources and presents the historical development of that freedom first in the field of arbitration agreements and second in respect of jurisdiction agreements. The Chapter discusses the pillars and the scope of party autonomy in respect of choice of forum agreements.
