In this chapter, we discuss the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet) regarded collectively in Africa. Particular attention is paid to what have been identified as the major media in the continent: that is, AllAfrica (aggregating news from across the continent), British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Africa, Al Jazeera Africa, Africa Confidential, The Africa Report, African Arguments, and news outlets like Channels Television (Nigeria) and South Africa’s MultiChoice Group (DStv), and the notable fact-checking organizations that include Africa Check and Global Voices Sub-Saharan Africa.
