This paper presents a conceptual framework aimed at evaluating students’ skill readiness in Indian engineering and technical institutions using effective skill metrics. The key findings show that technical competence, decision-making abilities, communication skills, and adaptability to new technologies are important for employability. The study shows that including skill-based instruction in the curriculum greatly improves students’ preparedness for the workforce. The results also reveal challenges institutions face in enacting these metrics and suggest that continuous improvement and conformity with industry standards are essential. By using this system, instructors can better prepare students for job roles, contributing to the nation’s economic progress and development.
