Education for Older Adults
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive examination of education for older adults as a critical domain within contemporary aging societies. It posits that learning in later life transcends leisure, constituting a fundamental pillar of healthy aging that enhances cognitive function, fosters social integration, and elevates overall quality of life through the principle of lifelong learning. Situating the analysis within global demographic shifts, rising educational demands, and evolving policy landscapes, the chapter explores multidimensional implementation strategies involving governments, institutions, communities, and families. It critically engages with significant barriers to participation, including economic constraints, sociocultural stereotypes, health-related limitations, and the pervasive digital divide. Adopting a learner-centered approach, the chapter examines the psychosocial and contextual factors that influence technology adoption among older adults. Finally, it outlines concrete, evidence-based strategies for overcoming technical barriers and fostering digital inclusion. Through a synthesis of interdisciplinary literature from gerontology, educational psychology, social policy, and human-computer interaction, this chapter establishes a robust foundation for understanding older adult education as an indispensable element of personal empowerment and effective social policy in the twenty-first century.
