Contributions of Software Engineering to Digital Health in Brasil for Older Adults
摘要
The rapidly aging population and the pervasive digital transformation create fertile ground for innovation in Gerontechnology, yet they also present complex challenges for public health policies. Although this multidisciplinary field offers significant contributions to health promotion, care, and the quality of life of older adults, digital exclusion remains a critical barrier. In this context, and within the framework of Brasil’s Digital SUS (Unified Health System), this work proposes to investigate and critically examine the contributions of the Computer Science field, particularly Software Engineering, to initiatives aimed at older adults. To accomplish this, a systematized literature review was performed across searches in digital databases within the Computer Science field, including SBC OpenLib, ACM Digital Library, and IEEE Xplore Digital Library. In the seven studies identified, only one explicitly demonstrated the importance of using a set of tools to support the software engineering process and its methods. Although human factors were considered, there was little or no participation of older adults in the software development process. In the context of the Brazilian health system, population participation and leadership are important values that should be considered.
