Background: One of the main causes of mortality and morbidity in Portugal is respiratory diseases. The systematization of nursing care into indicators, based on scientific evidence, demonstrates the benefits of rehabilitation nursing in improving the quality of life of people with respiratory pathologies. Objective: Our objective is to identify indicators sensitive to Rehabilitation Nursing care, at the level of self-care, in people with Respiratory Pathology. Methods: Systematic Literature Review, and the research was carried out on the EBSCO platform (MEDLINE with Full TEXT and CINAHL). The focus was on studies from 2019 to 2024. Screening and selection of studies were based on eligibility criteria. Narrative synthesis was conducted, and the study follows the PRISMA checklist for systematic literature reviews, also following the updated methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Results: Indicators sensitive to nursing care were identified enabling self-care for people with respiratory pathology, which demonstrated the benefit of rehabilitation nursing in improving quality of life, thus ensuring excellent care. Conclusions: Respiratory functional re-education is essential in optimizing functional capacities and strengthening the independence of people with respiratory diseases. The specialised care provided by the Specialist Nurse in Rehabilitation Nursing, based on scientific evidence, is essential to foster self-care, promote autonomy, longevity and a better quality of life.
