Objective: Analyze the clinical application effect of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress therapy in the maturation of arteriovenous fistula function in hemodialysis patients. Method: Sixty hemodialysis patients with autologous arteriovenous fistula established in the Nephrology Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xingtai Medical College from December 2024 to September 2025 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, the patients were divided into a control group (30 cases) and a treatment group (30 cases). The control group was treated with conventional therapy, while the treatment group was additionally treated with traditional Chinese medicine hot compress therapy on this basis. After 8 weeks of intervention, compare the maturity of internal fistula indicators (diameter of the cephalic vein, blood flow of the cephalic vein, and subcutaneous depth of the vein), the maturation rate of internal fistula, the incidence of complications, and safety evaluation between the two groups of patients. Result: After treatment, both groups showed an increase in the diameter and blood flow of the cephalic vein compared to before treatment (P < 0.05), and a decrease in the depth from the skin compared to before treatment (P < 0.05). The diameter and blood flow of the cephalic vein in the treatment group were greater than those in the control group during the same period (P < 0.05), while the depth from the skin was shorter than that in the control group during the same period (P < 0.05). The maturation rate of the treatment group was 90.00%, which was higher than the control group’s 73.33% (P < 0.05). The incidence of complications in the treatment group was 10.00%, while the incidence of complications in the control group was 33.33% (P < 0.05). The incidence of complications in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group. Both groups of patients did not experience allergies, infections, or other symptoms. Conclusion: This study suggests that traditional Chinese medicine hot compress can effectively maintain the function of arteriovenous fistula, promote the maturation of internal fistula, reduce the incidence of complications, and has high safety.
