Bridging the Gap: Transforming Indonesia’s Primary Education Landscape to Achieve SDG 4 Goals
摘要
Assuring accessible and equitable quality education and encouraging opportunities for lifelong learning for all are the main objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). In Indonesia, a nation with a variety of socioeconomic and geographic circumstances that have a substantial impact on educational fairness and quality, this study looks at the implementation and difficulties of SDG4. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, the study combines qualitative assessment using secondary data from the World Bank, Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, and UNESCO with qualitative examination of government policies and activities. The main issues noted include unequal resource distribution, inadequate teacher preparation, and regional differences in educational access. Although Indonesia has made strides in raising enrolment rates, the results show that there are still large disparities in educational quality, especially in rural and underserved areas. Despite their potential, policy efforts like conditional cash transfers and digital learning platforms have been difficult to execute. According to the study’s findings, Indonesia must increase intergovernmental cooperation, engage the community, and come up with creative ways to address social and regional inequalities if it hopes to achieve SDG 4. Future studies should examine how well new technologies work and how localized versions of international education systems can improve student learning outcomes. This study offers important new information to stakeholders and policymakers who are working to raise the standard of education in Indonesia.
