High turnover impacts the quality of work within organizations, due to the costs of replacement and the potential loss of intellectual capital when skilled professionals leave. In public companies, this loss can be even more significant due to the need to conduct public examinations to fill vacancies, which lengthens the recruitment and selection process. Therefore, anticipating behavioral intentions related to employee turnover has become a central concern for managers of state-owned enterprises. This case examines turnover intention and organizational entrenchment among employees of the National Supply Company (CONAB), a Brazilian public company governed by private law whose primary mission is to ensure supply and regulate the country’s food market. We will present tools for conducting a diagnostic assessment and the results of a survey with 535 CONAB employees regarding this issue. By providing a detailed description of the case and proposing reflective questions that encourage the interpretation of organizational realities through theoretical perspectives, we hope this material will be helpful in training students interested in organizational psychology and people management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
