Encouraging job crafting behaviors is an effective strategy that organizations and individuals themselves can use to enhance occupational well-being. These actions are described in this fictional case, based on real events, which took place at a Brazilian federal public university following a request from a specific department to investigate aspects related to the work of its technical-administrative staff in education that might be contributing to increased absenteeism and transfer requests. Using methodological triangulation (interviews, questionnaires, observation, and scales) to gather information, the assessment enabled a deeper understanding of the staff’s work reality, subsequently resulting in an intervention proposal consisting of training to optimize job demands and resources, thereby promoting positive outcomes such as employee engagement and performance. The potential and limitations of job crafting interventions are discussed, as well as strategies for addressing work contexts similar to the one described in this case.

摘要
