Cyber Fraud as a Threat to Economic Security

The research focuses on cyber fraud in the world as a serious threat to the economic security of individuals and countries. In an era of digitalization, where processes of data exchange and storage are increasingly moving online, criminals are continually devising new methods to exploit vulnerabilities in network infrastructures, affecting individuals and organizations. In recent years, there has been a significant rise in instances of cyber fraud, from phishing attacks that now incorporate artificial intelligence, enabling fraudsters to launch more adaptive and personalized schemes, to complex breaches of banking systems. The authors present statistics on cyber threats and the financial losses incurred by individuals and businesses, highlighting the pressing need to address this issue. They argue for developing and implementing effective economic measures, including comprehensive strategies that combine regulation with incentives for businesses and individuals, to help prevent such crimes.
