First Data on the Chemical and Isotopic (Pb-Pb) Compositions of Bronze Age Metal Finds from Crimea
摘要
The study of samples of metal items from burials and settlements of different periods of the Bronze Age in the steppe Crimean Peninsula using geochemical methods (Pb-Pb isotope analysis, pXRF, SEM-EDX method) showed differences in the composition of the samples. The first results of the analysis suggested that different ore sources had been used for the manufacture of copper and bronze objects. the Early Bronze Age metal items from the Yamnaya and Kemi-Oba graves were brought from the Caucasus region to the steppe zone of North-Western Crimea. The ores of various genesis from the Caucasian mountain range were used. Caucasian bronzes were also used in the Early Catacomb period. Along with these items in the Catacomb period, there are metal objects from the Southern Urals region. The Late Bronze Age artifacts from the Bai-Kiyat 1 settlement are products from the Northern Black Sea metallurgical centers using raw material sources and metal items from the Carpathian-Danube basin.
