Towards Immersive Pedagogy: Exploring Metaverse in Education

Incorporating the framework of immersive pedagogical innovation, this article explores the growing importance of the metaverse in creating innovative and relevant learning experiences. Emerging as a crucial component of contemporary educational innovations, immersive pedagogy aims to fully engage learners in the process of acquiring knowledge and skills. This pedagogy, which has historically been associated with participatory approaches like project-based learning, has flourished with the introduction of digital technologies, particularly the metaverse. By overcoming geographical limitations and facilitating immersive and cooperative experiences, the latter—which is characterized as a convergence of online virtual environments—offers revolutionary potential for education. This study intends to investigate the integration of the metaverse in education, assess its advantages, examine its drawbacks, and pinpoint best practices for its efficient and moral application.
