This review article highlights the key issues in the digital transformation of educational communication in higher education institutions. It emphasizes the critical role of higher education in navigating the complexities of a digitalized society. The article substantiates the idea that educational communication plays a pivotal role in developing a well-rounded individual, surpassing other forms of communication in significance. It demonstrates how digitalization has permeated all societal spheres, profoundly transforming communication processes, which now heavily rely on the Internet and information and communication technologies (ICT). These technologies have become an integral part of the communication space, opening up new ways of interaction between teachers and students and providing unprecedented access to knowledge. However, digitalization driven by the development of ICTs also has an adverse effect on the nature of communication, impacting general speech culture, depersonalizing interactions, and contributing to a decline in the social or soft skills of higher education students.
