Controversies in Contraception
摘要
Few areas of medical care are as fraught with controversy as female contraception. Historically, differing political and religious viewpoints fueled the bulk of debates in the lay community. Today, the rising popularity of social media also contributes to the conversation. Within the medical community, debates commonly revolve around the risks linked to various hormonal and intrauterine methods, with such disputes further fueling sociopolitical debates. Healthcare providers need to familiarize themselves with the evidence behind the controversies and to effectively communicate the risks and benefits of contraceptive methods that remain essential for achieving their patients’ reproductive goals.
