Optimization of DC Drive Systems with Model Predictive Control for Cascaded Quadratic Boost Converters

Recently, “Quadratic-Boost-Converter” has been extended as a substitute between PV-system & DC-load. Improved DC-voltage level as well as current level is achieved using Parallel QBC & its output is used to drive a DC-Motor. This effort mainly analyses on “Two-loop-Proportional Resonant (PRC) Controlled and Model Predictive (MPC) controlled-quadratic-boost-converter fed DC-drive”. The model predictive controlled Quadratic boost converter parallel connection improves dynamic response of the system when compared with existing controller like PI, Proportional. The objective of the proposed model predictive closed loop CQBC system is to improve the dynamic response of CQBC fed DC drive system. PR Controlled and MP controlled -CQBC systems models are developed using MATLAB Simulink. The results of PRC and MPC based QBC systems indicate that the speed- response of CQBC fed DC drive system with MPC is provides higher performance than the PRC controlled CQBC system.
