Team Players Versus Individual Contributors
摘要
Agile software development thrives on a deliberate tension: valuing individual excellence while demanding deep collective accountability. Far from being accidental, this dynamic is designed to replace hero-driven productivity with cross-functional collaboration rooted in trust. This chapter examines how Agile reframes individual brilliance as a vital resource embedded in shared goals and mutual respect. It explores how trust, open communication, and psychological safety enable teams to align diverse expertise without sacrificing autonomy, avoiding dysfunction and dominance while sustaining high performance. By tracing Agile’s shift from siloed specialisation to integrated, self-organising teams, the chapter shows how practices such as collective accountability, distributed leadership, and peer-based recognition turn personal strengths into a shared asset. Ultimately, it argues that Agile maturity lies in transforming individual potential into collective success i.e. cultivating a culture where the “I” is not lost but elevated through the “we.”
