Many reports have dealt with the connection between osteoporosis and cardiological conditions. For example, a recent study investigated the presence of osteoporosis in 198 patients undergoing coronary angiography because of chest pain. The results showed that 53 (27%) had osteoporosis, 79 (40%) had osteopenia, and only 66 (33%) had normal BMD values. Moreover, 76% of the patients with osteoporosis 78% of those with osteopenia had obstructive coronary artery disease.
