Plastic pollution is a global environmental issue that threatens the functioning of marine ecosystems. It disrupts the natural habitats of marine life, jeopardizes the health of organisms, threatens the biodiversity of marine ecosystems, and negatively impacts their economic and aesthetic values, thereby complicating the achievement of a sustainable blue economy. Projects focused on the recycling of plastic waste are of great importance, not only for environmental protection but also for conserving energy resources and transforming the disadvantages of plastics into sustainable applications. Within this scope, a project in İzmir Bay aims to collect plastic waste and transform it into different materials using 3D printing technology, offering an innovative solution for environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, technological advancement, and raising social awareness. In this project, plastic waste collected during dives in İzmir Bay was first processed into filament and then planned to transform into diving equipment, such as octopus holders, cylinder carrying handles, and DIN/INT adapter protection caps, using 3D printers. By reducing marine pollution and promoting recycling, this project combines marine cleanup efforts with 3D printing technology, providing a creative and original approach to using technology to address environmental challenges. It contributes to raising public awareness about plastic pollution and highlights the potential of environmentally sustainable, technology-based solutions to inspire and foster societal consciousness.
