Building sector has a major environmental footprint, with concrete production, especially the cement industry, accounting for about 10% of global CO₂ emissions. To reduce this impact, researchers have developed alternative formulations such as foamed concrete, which offers advantages including low density, good thermal insulation, and reduced use of primary aggregates. However, due to his cement consumption and fine aggregates, optimizing its composition remains challenging. This study investigates the feasibility of producing foamed concrete incorporating dune sand, an abundant and locally available material, to partially replace conventional aggregates and enhance sustainability. The investigation includes a CO2 emission comparison in a proposed mix with conventional foamed and traditional concretes. Research indicate that Portland cement and chemical additives remain the main contributors to environmental impacts. The findings aim to promote the development of more sustainable, low-carbon construction materials through the valorization of local resources while finding alternative to substitute traditional aggregates and avoid waste consumption due to actual resource scarcity.

摘要
