This chapter examines competition and market concentration in GCC banking from 2002 to 2022 using structural and non-structural indicators. While concentration remains high, competition levels vary across countries. Some banks exert market power, consistent with the Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) paradigm, while others expand through efficiency gains, aligning with the Efficient Structure Hypothesis (ESH). The persistence of monopolistic competition, despite high concentration, reflects regulatory frameworks, foreign entrants, and advances in digital banking. The chapter also examines the relationship among efficiency, competition, and stability in the context of ongoing economic and financial reforms in the region.

摘要
