In order to realize this goal, it becomes necessary to establish a common understanding of the material that is being shared. It underlines the importance of the study of meaning in language. Semantics includes the analysis and comprehension of data to guaranty the uniform comprehension of the information throughout collaborating systems. This chapter studies the importance of semantics in the IoT, the difficulties faced in achieving semantic interoperability, and the strategies used in dealing with these obstacles.
