Standards and Best Practices in Digital Maintenance and Asset Management
摘要
The digital transformation of maintenance and asset management requires a structured foundation of standards and best practices to ensure consistency, interoperability, and strategic alignment across systems and industries. This chapter explores the essential role of standards—such as ISO 55000, ISO 14224, IEC 81346, and frameworks like RAMI 4.0 and the Industrial Internet Reference Architecture (IIRA)—in guiding the evolution from traditional maintenance approaches to data-driven, digitally enabled practices. The chapter highlights how these standards support the integration of technologies like IoT, AI, and Digital Twins, and how they underpin advanced practices such as predictive maintenance, asset health indexing, and lifecycle optimization. Common implementation challenges are examined, including system integration, workforce readiness, and gaps in standard coverage. To support organizations in their transformation journey, the chapter introduces a maturity-based framework for aligning digital adoption with asset management objectives. By linking technical frameworks to practical decision-making models, the chapter offers a roadmap for sustainable, standards-compliant digital maintenance strategies that can evolve with the increasing complexity and demands of modern asset-intensive environments.
