Highest Flexibility for Braiding Machines Combined with High Production Speed
摘要
Complex braided medical devices like catheters, flow diverters, aneurysm coils, vascular stents and gastro-intestinal devices with many wires pose great challenges to current manufacturing processes. Flexibility in machine braiding is needed. In addition, it must be possible to create braids with different numbers of wire ends on the same machine with a high production speed to reduce machine cost. Both requirements - highest flexibility combined with high production speed - are technologically mutually exclusive. By applying modified physical principles to control the braiding paths and intelligent production equipment, the production process of braiding has been further developed in a forward-looking way. The use of single driven horngear and a magnetic switch between the impellers allow more flexibility. Now it is possible to create braids from 3 to 192 wire ends on a single braiding machine. Creating bifurcations, multilayer braids with interlocks, even flat braids are possible with the new machine concept. The production of complex medical devices is thus possible economically and of the highest quality.
