The 300th anniversary of the birth of philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724–1803) was an opportunity to discuss the relevance of his philosophy to the theory and practice of education, and to physical education in particular. The first part of the study provides an overview of the current reception of Kant’s work in Germany and internationally. The second part examines Kant’s work On Education, first published after his death in 1803. The final section discusses the reception of Kant’s philosophy in physical education and sports pedagogy from the Age of EnlightenmentEnlightenment to the present day.
