Situating the Italian Socio-political Context: Introducing Political Parties, Immigration Policies, and Migration Trends
摘要
In line with DHA (see, e.g., Wodak, 2001; Reisigl & Wodak, 2001; Wodak & Reisigl, 2015), context is conceptualized across four analytical dimensions: (i) the immediate linguistic environment (co-text); (ii) intertextual and interdiscursive relations; (iii) the situational level; and (iv) the broader socio-political and historical context. This chapter addresses the latter dimension by outlining the Italian socio-political context, which provides the interpretive backdrop for the empirical analyses that follow. Indeed, the DHA emphasizes the importance of embedding discourse within its historical, political, institutional, and social settings, making it essential to account for the broader structural and conjunctural factors that shape the production and reception of political discourse.
