The Future of Pharmacists
摘要
This chapter examines how digital technologies, particularly online pharmacies and artificial intelligence, are reshaping pharmaceutical practice and healthcare delivery. It discusses the rapid global growth of e-pharmacies, emphasizing benefits, such as accessibility and convenience, alongside risks, including counterfeit medicines, data privacy concerns and the erosion of pharmacist-patient relationships. Telepharmacy is presented as a means to extend care to underserved regions, provided quality standards and professional oversight are upheld. Artificial intelligence is explored for its potential in diagnostics, drug discovery and personalized treatment while highlighting ethical, regulatory and accountability challenges. The chapter calls for integrating digital literacy, ethical awareness and narrative identity-building into pharmacist training. Ultimately, it advocates for a balanced approach, where technological innovation complements human care, professional responsibility and patient trust.
