Carbon Footprint for SMEs: An Open-Source Framework for Real-Time Monitoring in Manufacturing
摘要
The core of the research work is the development and implementation of a real-time carbon footprint monitoring system with a focus on applicability for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This is due to limited access to or effective use of operational data, which affects their ability to take data-driven sustainability actions. Based on the implementation of a machine carbon footprint for a 5-axis universal machining center, consumption such as energy, compressed air, cooling lubricants and material consumption are dynamically recorded and visualized in real time with the help of a wide variety of sensors. The processing, storage and visualization of the measurement data are carried out using open-source low-code platforms. The data serves as a basis for both the product-related and production-specific CO₂ footprint. The result of this work is an open-source framework that provides a first approach for SMEs to enable an entry into sustainable production and incidentally increases transparency in production and helps with optimization as well as meeting future regulatory requirements.
