In previous chapters, we have discussed the effectiveness and efficiency of Deep Neural Networks. Another important aspect for DNNs is their security. Without enough consideration and proper countermeasures, DNN models can be easily attacked in various ways such that their functionality, privacy, and reliability are compromised. In this chapter, we will introduce the general sense of security, including high-level views of several major security issues for DNNs which will be covered in detail in the following chapters.
