BCV: Ventilation During Anesthesia in Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Procedures
摘要
Ear, nose, throat, and various airway surgeries pose significant challenges for the anesthesiologists due to the shared airway. Over the years, several modalities have been utilized to provide safe and unrestricted airway management during these surgeries. Current research has highlighted the role of biphasic cuirass ventilation (BCV) as a modality of airway management in patients undergoing airway surgeries. BCV is unique as a modality because it provides tubeless management of the airway, thereby providing minimal or no interruptions during surgeries. This chapter attempts to provide a brief overview of the history of BCV, the technique, the advantages, and the limitations of its use for ENT and airway surgeries.
