Biphasic Cuirass Ventilation During Emergency Tracheal Intubation
摘要
Biphasic cuirass ventilation (BCV) can be used during the process of emergency tracheal intubation, but, so far, only a single case report has been published to support this technique. The technique involves placing the BCV device on the patient during the preoxygenation period and leaving it on while performing (what would otherwise be typical) rapid sequence intubation (RSI). The potential benefit of BCV use during emergency tracheal intubation is that a patient can still be oxygenated and ventilated while chemically paralyzed. Therefore, this technique could provide a means to make emergency airway management safer in patients who are at risk of a rapid drop in oxygen saturation or worsening respiratory acidosis.
