The Development and Wide Acceptance of E-Books and Audio Books

This chapter addressed how trade book publishing moved from a largely print-based industry to a digital/print one releasing titles as e-books and audiobooks. The intriguing history of the early creation of e-books and audiobooks and their sophisticated metamorphosis are analyzed. A discussion of some of the innovators, including Thomas Alva Edison and the Rev. Roberto Busa, is also presented.
