Donation after cardiac death has increased the pool of potential organ donors; however, many donors do not expire within the specified time limits leading to wasted resources. Although the use of normothermic machine perfusion and normothermic regional perfusion has improved outcomes with these donors, it remains a significant challenge to screen and identify potential DCD donors. We provide an overview of the available predictive tools.
