Static cold storage has been the routine method of liver preservation for decades effectively reducing hepatocellular metabolic and enzymatic activity; however, it is associated with intracellular derangements. Strategies to reduce the adverse effects of hypothermia include minimizing the cold exposure, donor and recipient selection, and donor-recipient matching. Using a strict selective process, DCD-LT with standard SCS achieves outcomes comparable to DBD-LT.
