Cervical Cancer Prevention Among Refugees and Displaced Persons: New Opportunities to Reach the Underserved
摘要
This chapter presents the literature and available data on cervical cancer prevention coverage, barriers, and opportunities among refugees and other displaced populations. It presents updated WHO guidelines and innovations, both technological and interventional, which hold promise for reaching underserved women and individuals with a cervix. Finally, using a socio-ecological model, the chapter identifies and analyzes personal, interpersonal (related to healthcare providers), organizational (healthcare facilities), structural (health systems), and contextual (cultural, religious, environmental, etc.) barriers to vaccination and screening, as well as related facilitating measures and opportunities.
