Reaching Out to Those Left Behind: Deployment of Point-of-Care (POC) Testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Including HIV, in Migrant Populations
摘要
This chapter will explore the deployment of point-of-care (POC) testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in migrant populations. It will examine the currently available technologies and those in the pipeline and discuss the opportunities and challenges to answer to the unique healthcare needs of migrant populations, the barriers they face in accessing traditional services, and the innovative approaches being used to integrate POC testing into community-based sexual health programs. We will also discuss some cautionary measures so that POCT is implemented in a way that maximizes the potential of these technologies to improve health outcomes, reduce the spread of STIs, and empower individuals in vulnerable situations to take control of their sexual health.
