Workflow to Develop a Comprehensive BIM-Aware Library Through Parametric Modelling
摘要
The increased spatial demands have caused a surge in the construction of mid and large scale buildings in all tier I and II Indian cities. Constructing large-scale buildings requires the skills and expertise of various professionals and the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM). Extant literature has also proven the significant contribution of BIM in achieving sustainability. India's BIM adoption process focuses primarily on capacity building for skilled professionals through awareness, training, and education. Major BIM software libraries must have India-specific components and materials for the different climatic zones. This research highlights the lacunae in the BIM adoption and the necessity of standard BIM-aware library. It also provides insight into the climatic region-based commonly used green building materials and components through literature review. In addition, this paper proposes a workflow to create a comprehensive BIM-Aware library based on parametric modelling. Further, the workflow is demonstrated to create customizable library consisting building components and materials. The outcome intends to promote and accelerate BIM adoption through a collaborative platform in the architecture, engineering, construction and operation industry.
