Injections and Paracentesis
摘要
This chapter provides an overview of ophthalmic injections and anterior chamber paracentesis, focusing on both intraocular and extraocular injections. Intraocular injections and paracentesis open the eye to the external environment and are more invasive. Extraocular injections may avoid the risk of intraocular access, but injections may still access the orbit and risk infection or damage to extraocular structures (Basic principles of ophthalmic surgery. American Academy of Ophthalmology; 2024). There are several injections within each category, but each can be set up and performed relatively quickly. A lab session can be designed to rotate residents through multiple stations performing each injection.
