Examining the Effects of the Glass Ceiling on Female Employees’ Career Advancement, with an Emphasis on the Education Sector

The perspectives and experiences of female academics regarding the primary obstacles that prevent them from achieving and maintaining leadership positions in private universities of Punjab are examined in this research. The data were collected from 135 female faculty members, revealing several obstacles female academics must overcome. The primary sociocultural obstacles to achieving leadership roles include patriarchal norms and stereotypes, traditional gender roles, the inability of female academics to balance work and family obligations, ethical transgressions, a lack of cooperation among co-workers, and the unseen glass ceiling. Additionally, the results identified the variables that demotivate female academics from pursuing leadership positions. The article ends with recommendations for actions and ramifications to empower and advance female scholars to achieve social justice and an inclusive learning environment.
