Investing in Fintech Fraud Combating Startups: Social Responsibility Before Profits?

Starting from Payment fraud through Account takeovers, Identity theft, Investment scams and Insider fraud ending with Money laundering and Social engineering, Fintech market represents growing fraudster threat area. Increasing the security infrastructure investments for combat and securing of the fintech market is an area of growing investor interest also. Testing the hypothesis whether traditional decision making was deepened by the social responsibility of the investors we are examining 1453 fintech firms, 70 fintech fraud detection firms, 50 ESG-driven investors, and 76 fintech investment transactions compared to 37 fintech fraud transactions within the fintech sector using the databases Crunchbase and Clay. The period observed is 2015–2025. We deliver conclusions about the extent of the interest the investors show in the mission of such firms for stabilizing and risk mitigation of the Fintech market through provision of infrastructure for secure transactions.
