This paper explores the Yogic concept of Nādānusandhāna, the practice of contemplating the ‘Sound’. We examine descriptions of this concept in classical texts, primarily the Haṭhayogapradīpikā of Svāmī Svātmarāma (15th century), and also the contemporary therapeutic practices, known by the same term nādānusandhāna. Through a review of various classical and modern interpretations, we provide a descriptive summary to serve as a basis for further investigation of this practice. The paper also reviews some experimental studies on nādānusandhāna.

摘要

This paper explores the Yogic concept of Nādānusandhāna, the practice of contemplating the ‘Sound’. We examine descriptions of this concept in classical texts, primarily the Haṭhayogapradīpikā of Svāmī Svātmarāma (15th century), and also the contemporary therapeutic practices, known by the same term nādānusandhāna. Through a review of various classical and modern interpretations, we provide a descriptive summary to serve as a basis for further investigation of this practice. The paper also reviews some experimental studies on nādānusandhāna.
