Climate change (CC) poses significant challenges to blue economy resources, particularly in underdeveloped countries like Sudan. This study focuses on assessing the impacts of climate change on maritime shipping as a critical component of the blue economy in Sudan. The background of the problem highlights the limited understanding of how CC affects maritime shipping infrastructure and operations in Sudan and similar contexts. The study focuses on analyzing the causes of climate change, vulnerabilities, and ways to adapt within the maritime shipping sector. The aim is to provide insights that inform policymakers and stakeholders about the urgent need for targeted adaptation and mitigation measures. Objectives include analyzing existing literature, identifying specific CC impacts, assessing vulnerabilities, and proposing adaptation strategies. The methodology involves a comprehensive literature review and the development and distribution of questionnaires to relevant stakeholders, ensuring a holistic understanding of the issue. The study aims to address the current situation and encourage investment in Sudan’s waters by conducting a thorough assessment of needs, opportunities, and challenges. It is also notable that respondents believe that the responsibility to spread awareness about climate change (CC) is shared between the media, academic institutes, government, and public interest associations (94.6%, 91.1%, 91.1%, and 85.7%, respectively). The study revealed a lack of information about CC and its influence on BE activities in Sudan. This study contributes to filling the knowledge gap regarding CC impacts on blue economy resources, particularly maritime shipping, in underdeveloped countries like Sudan.
