During these three years I traveled across Canada visiting many cities where there were relatively large numbers of Fellows of our academy. My goals were to meet as many Fellows of the RSCRoyal Society of Canada as possible and to encourage them to get involved in the many activities of the Academy of Science and the RSCRoyal Society of Canada. These activities included a new Science Policy Committee which I initiated, lecture exchanges with other national academiesMy visits to national academies, scientific conferences associatedwith the annual RSCRoyal Society of Canada general meetings, RSC publications, and serving on academy selection committees. There were two noteworthy initiatives during my term of office: an exchange lecture program with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and thePartnership Group in Science and Engineering Partnership Group in Science and Engineering (PAGSE). The former evolved into a visitors’ program for young Ukrainian scientists and scholars to come to Canada for three-month stays in the labs of RSC Fellows; unfortunately, this program had to be suspended when Ukraine was invaded by Russia in February 2022. The second activity brought together the leadership of over 20 Canadian scienceScience advice for Canadian Science Departments and engineering societies to promote and advance these fields. PAGSE is still in operation today and is often considered one of the more appreciated initiatives of the Academy of Science.
