In the summer of 1972, I took Mom and Dad on a road trip in England, Scotland and western Europe. Before leaving, I introduced them to Mary Burr whom I had met on a camping holiday in Morocco and had been seeing for the past six months. This was an awkward situation for my parents since I was still married although separated from my first wife. My mother was hoping that I would later get divorced and meet another Ukrainian woman. I convinced her that Mary was the woman for me and told her that Mary would be joining me in Vancouver in the fall.
