The Eurogang Program of Research: A Look to the Past and Future Directions
摘要
A lot has been written on the Eurogang Program of Research (aliases: Eurogang Project, Eurogang Network, or simply Eurogang) in the 25 plus years since the working group was just a kernel in Malcolm (Mac) Klein’s sociological imagination (see Klein, 1996). When conceptualizing this chapter, it was difficult to determine what we could add to the multitude of earlier overviews, introductions, and pontifications on the mission of Eurogang, the Eurogang definition, and previous workshops. We encourage our readers to peruse some of those writings for more in-depth coverage of the working group, especially Esbensen and Maxson (2024). This chapter takes a bit of a different approach; while we provide a brief overview of the Eurogang mission and the definition, we also add substantively to the body of literature on Eurogang by exploring historical data on Eurogang participants, funding sources, and citation counts of previous Eurogang volumes. In addition, we outline the current volume and discuss past successes and future directions of the Eurogang Program of Research.
